The Exhibition
AGITATE
This section displays a mix of broadside posters that speak to civil rights and represent a range of work from different print series within Kennedy's body of work. These posters use quotes from iconic civil rights figures (such as Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, and members of the Black Panther party) and talk about oppression and racism, embodying people who were agitating and expressing dissent to the dominant (historical) frame. This work also demonstrates the textural qualities of overprinting with letters in different color variations which are signatures of Amos’ approach.
