SF Handstyles: Word of Mouth
Join Kate Dole for a talk on the critical role of oral traditions in passing down and maintaining the core and foundations of San Francisco's graffiti culture through the generations. Dole will review a brief history of San Francisco's graffiti scene and focus primarily on the importance of having a handstyle.
San Francisco has a legendary graffiti culture and scene responsible for some of the most prolific handstyles that are now emulated around the world.Through her lens as a close loved one, Dole will provide a glimpse into the life and graffiti career of one legend in particular: Leonard "Jade" Liu. Sharing work from Jade's archives, Dole will bring to light important understanding of the handstyle master himself.

Trust Your Struggle
Rob Liu-Trujillo and Nisha Sethi of Oakland-based collective Trust Your Struggle speak on graffiti and its influence on their art practices.
Trust Your Struggle is an multi-generational Oakland-based collective of artists, educators, and cultural workers who are dedicated to mobilising their communities on social justice, environmental sustainability, and community organising through public art. We are thrilled to be joined by both Nisha Sethi and Rob Liu-Trujillo who are active members of this collective, as they speak on their relationship to graffiti, and its impact on them as working artists in the Bay Area.

Exhibition Closing Event
Swing by the Mischief Zine Fair at Letterform Archive to celebrate the closing weekend of Subscription to Mischief. Join us for a day of graffiti zines, flick trades, and your last chance to get a curator’s tour from Sp.One (Greg Lamarche) and Chino BYI (David Villorente).
Local shops, creators, and collectors will be selling new and rare graffiti magazines. Purchase of duplicate vintage zines from our collection and back issues of Greg Lamarche’s Skills Magazine will support the preservation of and access to Letterform Archive’s growing graffiti collection.
New zine drops and limited editions are first come first serve (limit 2). Free admission.
Please also visit our friends at ICASF as they celebrate the closing of Ghost Land and Out of Place with free interactive art activities inspired by their exhibitions, including a screen printing workshop offered in collaboration with the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts.
